Largest full moon of 2009
I have now heard on Twitter, my blog world, and even some of my astronomy students about this cool event. 🙂
Tonight marks January’s full moon and coincidentally it is perigee (when the moon orbit takes it closest to Earth) so according to Space.com the moon will be 14% larger in apparent size and 30% brighter than at any other time in 2009. Go out and enjoy the moon if it actually clears up at all.
The cool thing is the effect will be almost as striking tomorrow as well.
